Details: Is the Dyson the best vacuum to purchase?

Answers

Consumer Reports rated six upright vacuums ahead of the DC17 in January 2008. The top two were Kenmore (Sears) brands, models 35922 and 36932, which go for $300/$350, which is about $200 cheaper than the DC17. The Riccar SupraLite RSL3 ($330) also scored well. Sometimes real user ratings mean more. 54 Consumer Reports users (a picky bunch) chimed in with their own rating on the DC17 of 4 of 5 stars -- there were many glowing reviews and charges that Consumer Reports missed the mark on the DC17 evaluation. However, 72 users gave the Kenmore 35922 4/5 stars as well with equally solid reviews. Both brands have good reliability ratings as well. I'd say save some money and go for the Kenmore.

I have an older DC07 and I love it. I've tried a wide range of vacuums over the years and nothing performs like my Dyson. I'd definitely go for the Dyson if you can afford it.

Actually, I have found the Sebo Felix to be a great vaule for the money and a fabulous clean. all bagless eventually have issues with sealing properly because it isn't easy to clean the seals. The felix keeps the dirt in, cleans both carpet and bare floor and has aadjustable suction. you can look up Sebo, and find a dealer.
