Don't know what's your budget but I've always been a big fan of Canon's SD elph digital cameras. I still have a elph s300 I purchased from 7 years ago and it is still working. The elph is always know for its compact body, durability, long battery life, and most important (sharp and clear pictures)! Happy shopping!

Hi there. just in case you want something at the higher end, may i suggest the rebel xti camera to you. it's the entry level digital SLR camera and is superb. if you're looking for something compact for travel i'd go with the cannon sd800
