If you're going to be moving the drive around physically, I'd suggest a 2.5" external since it doesn't need an extra power supply. Just plug it in via USB and you're all set. Western Digital makes some nice drives.

I would recommend you look at Seagate. Their drive reliability is excellent, and set up is extremely simple. Packaging is very nice and space-conserving, and heat dissipation is very good. Warranty is five years, although most drive makers have gone to this by now.

I use a 200GB Maxtor model and I absolutely love it. Either way though you will want to find a device that connects thru either a USB 2.0 device or a Firewire device. Of course you will have ot make sure your computer supports and has one of these options. The hard drive will probably work on a USB 1.1 (which comes standard on all relatively new computers) but you just might fall asleep at your computer waiting for your movies/pictures to finish transferring over.
