Totally! but.... only if you have a setup where you'll notice the difference. i've got a 32 inch lcd tv and it's pretty far from where i sit. from where i sit, it's hard to see the difference. when i'm closer, it's really nice. when i'm at my friend's places who have 50 inch and 60 inch sets, it's a great experience. you obviously also need a tv that can display the hd content. so, if you've got a nice large hdtv, go for it! the next hard question is hd-dvd or blu-ray.

It depends on your plasma. Can it do 1080p? If it can't then it probably wont be worth the money. Most common plasmas can do 720p/1080i but HD-DVD sends out signals at 1080p. 1080p is better than 1080i but if your plasma cant do 1080p, it'll down convert the 1080P signal and you wont be getting the full quality and clarity of an hd-dvd.

I'd check out "DVD- HD Up converts" as well. They come pretty close to HD quality at a fraction of the cost.
