Q:
How does T-Mobile's wireless data network speeds compare to AT&T's beleaguered EDGE and Sprint's seemingly snappy EVDO?
Oct 30th 2007, 05:48 - 3 Answers Category: Cell Phones & PDAs Details: The advent of the iPhone has shown how bad AT&T's EDGE data network really is. I've only heard relatively good comments about Sprint's EVDO, but since it is CDMA based I don't know if I should be skeptical. I'm also not sure if T-Mobile's GSM is the same, better, or worse than AT&T's in terms of data download and upload speeds. |

EVDO is superior to EDGE. You are comparing a 3G technology to 2G technology. T-Mobile offers EDGE so it's probably in the same ballpark as AT&T. If I had to guess, I would think AT&T is as good as it gets since they upgraded their network (operation "Fine Edge") for the iPhone.

Comparing EDGE (w/ iphone usage) with my friend's blackberry (EVDO) is not contest, the EVDO network is superior by far. Simple test is just loading up google maps. It's not unuseable but just a minor annoyance until Google blankets San Francisco with free wifi =)

I would suggest that you start looking at verizon.. since there have been a couple of news stories about their expanding network in the last 10 days.... that will blow most of the companies out.
