Whats your price range? I would suggest a 2007 BMW Z4 or 2008 if you dont mind taking the first year depreciation.

If you're looking for a convertible, I had the Saturn Sky Roadster and although it was a head turner, I recently traded it in for a Toyota Solara. A comfortable convertible, solid, smooth and with a trunk and glove compartment!!!!

What a loaded question. There is no one right answer. Everything depends on whether you intend to buy new or used, what your budget is, what your needs are, and what your tastes are. Do you want a sedan? An SUV? Sports Car? Exotic car? Luxury Car? Economy Car? Is reliability tops on your list, or head-turning factor? The only way to answer this question is to narrow the segment to what you can afford and what you goals are. A Volkswagen might be good. A Mercedes might be good. A Bentley might be good. But to say one single car is the best you can buy? That is really impossible. No one car does it all.
