Q:
a tft-monitor with widescreen for more than one open window
Jul 10th 2007, 15:43 - 3 Answers Category: Computers, Software & Add-Ons Details: i don´t know so much and did not really informed but perhaps you could be so kind and give me any feedback and experiences - what are the main criterias? I think i demands a screen with about at least 20". It should meet the actual norms (like TCO or something like that - what is up-to-date?) and support higher image frequencies in respectable resolutions more than 1280*1024(?). For stressless working, minimal place requirement (therefore a flatscreen). Pricing shall not exceed my (estimated) limit around 300 Euros. International suppliers or a distributor in west-europe would be helpful (or exact type/model numbers) so that I can get it in my location. Anything forgotten? Certainly - but I don´t think I could precise my enquiry - but you surely can imagine what I am looking for! Many thanks in advance MIC |

Mic, Your requirements are a bit tough for 300 Euros. Refresh rates are not important on LCD monitors unless you play a lot of games. Either way, you're not going to have to worry about flicker with LCDs. To get two windows side by side open, you really need to just figure out your window resolution x2. Most websites these days are coded for 1024x768 resolution so you'd need around 2000 pixels wide to get two windows open without (much) overlap. The closest resolution is 1920x1200 which is generally for 24" monitors. This monitor from Dell is great and is incredibly bright. Dell does business in most countries so just select your country from their homepage. Good luck!

Hi Mic. If you're on a budget, I'd recommend starting with one of these and possibly getting a second one so you can view two full windows side by side. You can get this monitor for about half the price of the 24". Resolution-wise this monitor maxes out at 1620x1050; plenty for a full 1024x768 with space for some other windows. In the US, Dell has frequent promotions for these things so you should be able to get 10% or so off the price. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with how dell works in your area.

Agree with Ray. I have a similar older model at home right now and I love it. Actually the menu is a bit hard to use, it pisses me off whenver I try to configure something. It's a hell of a bargain though for the quality. There are some places online selling for around $250
